Guitar parts & pickups
Unfortunately, due to having less time for all things guitar, the webshop with guitar parts is taking up too much time and therefore I’m selling off the remaining parts I have in stock. Check it out by clicking the link below:
One part of repair work we’ve been doing for a while at VC Guitars is rewinding pickups. As a result, we also started winding pickups for our own guitars, and doing custom winds for customers. These pickups are not listed on the webshop as we are not fulltime pickup makers, but feel free to ask us about the possibilities.
This pickup was the result of the search for a matching pickup for a lightweight pine bodied guitar. In 2014-2015 we built a few T-style guitars with a pine body, but after evaluation by ourselves and a professional guitar playing friend, we found it hard to find a good pickup for the bridge position, stock winds being too ‚lightweight’ sounding (pun intended). So we set out to wind a pickup that had enough body and power without sounding harsh or too mid-rangey. The result was the T40and it packs a punch! At 11,4k, with Alnico V magnets and wound with 43AWG wire, this pickup can really cut through the mix without that classic icepick effect!
Standard equipment of Maia, this looks like a P90 pickup but isn’t, exactly, that. The giveaway are the missing pole screws that you’d normally find on a P90. The R90 has rod magnets instead of the two bar magnets located below the coil, bringing some of that Fender-ish twang to the raw power of the P90 single coil. Want a P90 sized with a little more sparkle? This is the one.
